Madison County, formed in 1792, was named for the family of future president James Madison. President Herbert Hoover's Camp, his "weekend" White House is also located here. Come climb Old Rag Mountain, walk the many trails or take a bicycle trip along our scenic country roads. Madison County boasts several Civil War sites, handcrafted furniture manufacturers and many unique antique and craft shops. Madison's Taste of the Mountains Main Street festival attracts thousands to Main Street every Labor Day weekend.
