    VDP - Virginia Destination Professional                                      Certification

    Program Registration

    The VADMO VDP certification is a unique Virginia-centric DMO individual professional certification. Using activities and events you have participated in since January 1, 2016 and forward, you may register for this certification program. There are two components to this certification program, a knowledge component and an experiential component, which must be completed to earn the VDP certification

    Activities counting towards the certification requirements must have occurred within the past two years.  Renewal of your certification must be done two years after it is achieved  to maintain your credentials. Before you submit materials, please register for the program.  Your registration fee does not expire, but when you achieve the VDP all activities must be within the two year window.

    For example, all candidates who achieve their VDP in 2018 must have all required activities completed since January 1, 2016.

    2019 AAA Sales Blitz during ABA - Louisville


    Join VADMO on a Sales Blitz to AAA Offices coinciding with the ABA conference January 26-30, 2019 in Louisville, KY.  In addition to calls and a presentation at AAA Headquarters in Louisville, stops will be made at AAA offices on the way to Louisville.  Combined, we will double our numbers and have Virginia DMO information in 18 AAA offices!

    In addition to the calls made in Louisville, Bruce Newton and several other VADMO members will be driving to Louisville and will be taking DMO binders and bags to AAA offices. 


    The "Travel-Blitz" will depart on January 25th with one overnight.  The Louisville Blitz will occur on Monday, January 28, 2019, leaving the Kentucky International Convention Center at 8am.


    Cost to participate will be $100.00 and you will need to provide 20 profile sheets in plastic protective sleeves, 20 visitor guides and a minimum of 20 gifts/trinkets.  If you will only be sending materials then the cost is $125.00.  If you are adding any additional profile sheets, the cost is $80.00 per additional sheet.

    • Participants will be responsible for shipping the necessary materials to Bruce Newton in Hampton, Virginia to arrive no later than January 5, 2019. 
    • Each DMO will need to send 20 of their destination profile sheets in a 3-hole punched plastic sheet protector along with 20 Visitor Guide booklets, also to be included in the binder.  (Holders for the guides will be provided.)
    • NOTE: If your 2019 Visitor Guide is not printed, send copies of 2018 along with a reorder form.
    • Each DMO will also need to provide 20 gift items to include in the bags.  Consider small items like pens, hi-liters, cell phone pockets or other similar sized items.  (No large water bottles, please).  Send as many items as you would like to share in each of the bags.
    • VTC will be providing Virginia is for Lovers bags and peanuts for the calls.  Binders will be pre-stuffed in Hampton. 
    • All DMOs will need to send their materials in advance to: Bruce Newton at Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau, 1919 Commerce Drive -Suite 290, Hampton, VA  23666.  please have materials arrive by January 5, 2019.

    What will the AAA Offices receive?

    • Each AAA office will receive a Resource Binder with profile sheets for each participating DMO, Attraction or Business and Visitor Guides. Teams will review each binder page-by-page with the appropriate AAA staff.
    • Each AAA office will receive one or two (depending on staff size) goody bags containing items supplied by participating organizations to be shared with the staff in each office.

    What will participating DMOs, Attractions & Businesses get?

    • All participants will have their materials included in each Resource Binder, a copy of which will be left in each office that we visit.  Teams will review each page of the Resource Binder with the AAA staff member(s) with whom they meet….not simply their own page.
    • All participants will get a report on the visits by each team so that they may follow-up on any leads.
